8,000 feet up, at the southern tip of the Sierra, in the middle of a blizzard, my camera froze. Then my cheap backup camera froze while I was defrosting the first one. Despite packing all kinds of hoods and sleeves, my lenses were fogging badly and collecting droplets of water on the inside. Squishy socks, numb fingers, bright lights and low visibility. What I love the most about this gallery is how imperfect the shots are, because the struggle comes through.
